GoPro’s newest model, the Hero 6, was having technical problems and the customer forums were populated with
Since the specifications and price were almost identical, we selected the Garmin, simply to reduce the risk
Q: I am in a city and we would like to collect photos at a shorter interval than the .01 Mile preset
provided. How can we do this?
A: Although the .01 Mile interval is the shortest distance setting, you can use one of the time intervals .5
second or 1 second.
At 25 mph, the .5 second setting would take a photo approximately every 19 feet, a 1 second setting
approximately every 37 feet.
BUT, be aware, this setting will continue to take photos while stopped at intersections, etc. Data
accumulation could be significant.
Camera Extended Warranty
Since this camera will be outdoors, handled in a data collection activity, a third party warranty isn’t such
a bad idea.
Example: SquareTrade, 3-year protection, for $49. https://www.squaretrade.com/
RAM Heavy Duty Mount(If not using B&H, acquire through ExpressMounts.com)
The Garmin suction mount isn’t adequate for vertical mounting. Use RAM products instead.
